PUPPY/ADOLESCENT DOG FOUNDATIONS

They’re only a puppy once, start them off right! Help your puppy gain confidence no matter what life throws at them. Receive tools, tips and tricks to help you through all stages of puppyhood. Group class focused on establishing a strong relationship between young dogs and their human partners. We will familiarize all teams with the basic skills that will set you up for a rewarding life with your dog: sit, down, recall (“come”), and basic handling skills for the vet and groomer, plus so much more!

There is no prerequisite for this class.

This class will give you the confidence and skills to work through a Rally Novice course. Learn the ropes of competing in Rally! Proof your skills with all kinds of distractions so you can enter your next or first competition prepared! Trainer Bio:

Morgan Lynd has been training and trialing dogs in various dog sports for 18 years. The world of dog sports is constantly changing and evolving. Her approach to training is to create a clear communication system between the handler and dog, while keeping things fun and safe for everyone involved.

 

She got her first dog, Pepe,  an Aussie when she was 7 years old. Together they competed in Agility, Rally, and Junior Handling. She was  awarded for being one of the top agility junior handlers three years in a row and one of the top Rally junior handlers by the United States Australian Shepherd Association (USASA). They also completed 2 times at the AKC Junior Agility Invitationals in Orlando, FL.

 

She currently competes in Agility, Rally, and Herding with her Aussie, Smack. They are currently working towards an AKC MACH, RACH and eventually an ASCA WTCH. Her accomplishments with Smack include Most Versatile Aussie (MVA) Qualifier at the 2022 USASA National, his first trip to the national and first time trialling in AKC herding. 4th place MVA and Reserve High in Trial at the 2023 USASA National.

 

Morgan currently has 2 dogs of her own; Smack (4yr old Aussie) and Cinder (2yr old Lab).

FARM DOG MANNERS

Create your ideal farm dog companion! Build a working bond with your dog, receive tools, tips and tricks to help you and your dog succeed on and off the farm. Learn to not compete with your surroundings and have a dog that loves working for YOU.. Group class focused on creating the ideal farm dog or challenging handler/dog teams to take their obedience skills to the next level. DISC DOG WORKSHOPS-

Friday MAY 27TH at 5pm – 7pm : Throwing Seminar
Get your throws in line! Learn how disc release, angle, speed, and power can help you hit your target. This seminar will be taught WITHOUT the dogs, though there will be some time afterwards to practice your new skills with your dog. Your dog knows how to catch the frisbee, let’s take some time to work on YOUR part of the teamwork.
SKILL LEVEL: ANY SKILL LEVEL. Handlers are encouraged to bring a variety (or all!) the discs they have.

Saturday AM. MAY 28TH at 9am – 12pm: Toss & Fetch Workshop
Learn tactics to win! Toss & Fetch throwing technique, different hand off options, timing strategies, discuss different organization rules, and put it all together with practice rounds! SKILL LEVEL: ANY BREED. Dogs attending this clinic must be catching frisbees in the air or catching rollers. Owners must bring a minimum of 2 discs.

Saturday PM MAY 28TH at 1pm - 4pm: Freestyle Foundations Workshop
Turn those throws into flow. We will discuss the different criteria of Freestyle Routines, review the basics of flips, vaults, rebounds, directional movement, and teamwork.
SKILL LEVEL: ANY BREED. Dogs attending this clinic must be over 9 months old, ideally catching or biting discs. Owners must bring a minimum of 4 discs.

ABOUT CLINICIAN: Taylor Justice moved to Gray Summit, Missouri after a long career in Dog Training and Dog Behavior in upstate NY. After moving to Missouri, Taylor joined the Purina Incredible Dog Team where she performed and educated the community on dog ownership, disc dog, dock diving, agility, and more. She’s performed at the St Louis Aquarium, Busch Stadium during a Cardinals Baseball Game, for the Senator of Missouri, at Mizzou Veterinary College, and the list goes on! Taylor is a multiple time world frisbee finalist, qualifying for UpDog International Finals, USDDN World Finals, Skyhoundz World Championships. She has podiumed with multiple dogs of different breeds and ages, placing in Skyhoundz Xtreme Distance, Hero Cup, Show Me State Championship, Skyhoundz Discdogathon, and USDDN Super Pro. Taylor is a certified judge with both USDDN and UpDog. She loves to see owners engage their dogs through play and enjoys the passion that disc brings to teams!

Outdoor Yoga Class on the green at Cherry Hill Training Center with Spring Lambs

Join me for a 50 min outdoor yoga class followed by 30 minutes of time to hike the farm and spend more time with the flock. Several Lambs will be free roaming during the mat class and you can meet the rest right after. Though this is called Lamb Yoga, you will undoubtedly meet several others of the Cherry Hill menagerie, including the chore dog, the barn cat, and maybe even a hen or two. The landscape at Cherry Hill is beautiful and will make you feel at ease as we move through an open level yoga class.

What you will need: Yoga Mat (one that you don't mind laying down on the dirt), appropriate dress/footwear for the weather, water bottle, and a mask you feel comfortable wearing when checking in and exploring off your mat. Mats will be located 6ft apart for class. Optional: Blanket, Yoga Strap, Yoga Blocks

8:40am -9am: When you arrive, assistants will help you to know where to park and how to get signed in and set up.

9am-9:50am: Open Level Outdoor Yoga Class

9:50am- 10:20am: This is your time to take a short hike on the farm and meet the flock as well as meet the Owner, Amanda, to learn anything you'd like about Cherry Hill Training Center

Nadja’s multiple world finalist disc dogs have appeared at the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge, Fox & Friends, Good Morning America and more. In the last few years, she has been helping train other people’s disc-motivated dogs (and other sports) at the Hudson Valley Dog Farm, a boarding and training facility in Taghkanic, NY that she co-owns. She is eager to share her passion for building relationships with dogs through canine sports! Nadja is also a judge for UpDog Challenge and has judged freestyle for all the major disc organizations.
