About Billie Richardson
Billie's training style is simple, she wants the dog to understand pressure and go around their stock sensibility. She is firm but fair, wanting the dog to show some respect to the handler and the stock. It is Billie's goal for people to see themselves and their dogs in a way they didn't know was possible! Billie hopes to inspire people to train and trial to be their best and not worry so much about the team next to them. "Focus on your own set of dreams, and they're more likely to come true."
Billie often says to every non-border collie owner... "None of your dogs were bred to work in an arena... not one of them 👌"
Billie started in herding with a more show bred aussie named Cosmo, but they stuck with it- Having very positive first experience with herding. But she found it difficult after to find someone willing to believe in us. She attended a clinic with Trudy Viklund, and she had Aussies that were AWESOME! "I remember saying, one day I will have an aussie like that and ... I did!"
Trudy helped Billie get Dan, and the rest is history! Billie says she was lucky and particular who she picked as her trainer and mentor. They had to believe in her and her dog ... and they did ❤
Billies Accomplishments:
Billie's Dan was the first Australian Shepherd to qualify for the USBCHA (United States Border Collie Handlers Association) Nursery finals, and made the semi-finals in 2013.
As well as being the first Australian Shepherd to qualify for the open finals. Going on to compete in the 2015 and 2018 USBCHA Finals!
Qualified and ran in the 2017 ASCA Finals.
Billie and Dan qualified for the World Sheep Dog trial in Europe in 2019, an incredible accomplishment.
Dan's biggest win was the 2018 World Stockdog Champion, the first non-border collie to ever win. They were also the 2018 Clock Stock and Barrel champion!
Billie has 4 other Aussies that work her farm daily and also compete in USBCHA and ASCA,
with placements Finals and Merit standings. Winning numerous high in trial on Cattle and Sheep. Billie and her boy 'Jim' Dandy are the ASDA 2022 Arena Nursery Champion! Jim is currently sitting well in the merit and finals standings and they are hoping to get to Texas this year to ASCA Nationals.
Jim was a finalist in the 2022 World Stockdog competition, his first time there!
Billie's pup Frankie has qualified for the 2023 USBCHA nursery finals.
